Sometimes…the less thought out outfits I wear end up becoming one of my favorites. I wore this slip dress + sweater combination in Japan (see my other Japan looks here and here) and it was the perfect layering look for the climate. In Japan, it would get hot…then rainy and cold, so it was convenient wearing both a summer piece underneath and a thicker layer on top. When it started to get warmer throughout the day, I could easily take the sweater off for the most breezy and comfortable tropical outfit!
A slip dress on its own can be kind of boring at times and can borderline look like a nightgown at times, so it’s all about the accessories! I wore a straw hat and a bandana for this look to give it a little personality. That’s why I think the black slip is the most basic of basics that everyone ought to have. It’s great for layering in the fall/wintertime (layer it with a cardigan and boots) a perfect effortless piece for the summer!
