You know that moment when you roll out of bed in the morning and your hair looks like an absolute mess? Well, what if I told you that you could wake up with flawless hair? New year, new ‘do, right? All you need is a little love and you might not even need to touch your hair when you get ready! Here are my 5 simple steps to waking up with flawless hair:
As many of you guys know by now, I have really coarse hair. And, when I’m super busy or in a rush, the last thing I want to do is think about what to do with my hair. Just throwing it up in a top knot or ponytail seems like my only option sometimes. But recently, the CINCteam and I have been trying out different methods to continuously achieve flawless hair.
1. Apple Cider Vinegar
I was introduced to apple cider vinegar years ago as part of a detox I did, and to be honest, after that experience I was a little scared by the product because it tasted and smelled so horrible. Then, my mom made me an apple cider vinegar hair mask that changed my life but who had the time to make that every week, right? That’s when I discovered this apple cider vinegar hair rinse by DpHue that changed my hair completely. Using a hair rinse basically means you replace it with your usual shampoo and conditioner that you use every day (I still shampoo and condition my hair but a lot less now). Apple cider vinegar actually cleanses your hair and scalp without stripping all the good oils your hair needs to keep it hydrated and moisturized. At first, it felt weird not to do the traditional shampoo and condoning but after a week, I saw the difference. I also use the apple cider vinegar leave in after I rinse my hair which is a total game changer! I promise you will get over the smell once you see how big of a difference it makes!
2. Coconut Oil
What CAN’T coconut oil do? A good coconut oil hair treatment is an inexpensive and effective way to get your locks super soft. Take a handful of oil while it’s still a bit firm and massage it throughout your hair. You can either do your entire head (roots to tips) or just the ends of your hair. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes for a great hair mask, then shampoo & condition as you normally would for super soft & hydrated hair.
3. Stop Towel Drying
When you get out of the shower, do you usually throw your hair up in a towel as you go about your nighttime routine? Well STOP! Using a normal towel can cause some serious damage. Instead, try one of the microfiber towels or hair turbans. They absorb the excess water quickly without harming your hair!
4. Use the Right Pillowcase
Using the right pillowcase is a subtle way to make a big difference. Sleeping with a silk pillowcase (like this one) is a great way to help prevent wrinkles on your skin, but also help your hair! A normal cotton pillowcase can suck out moisture and leave your hair frizzy and dehydrated, but a silk pillowcase can help keep your hair shiny and strong!
5. Eat Right
Last but not least, eat right! I know it might sound redundant, but your diet can really take a toll on your hair, as well as your skin. Adding superfoods like salmon, walnuts, spinach and even sweet potatoes to your diet can help your hair stay strong. Not to mention the fact that the rest of your body and skin will thank you!
